Henry’s Conversation with Locke

Henry has another conversation with Locke. This one has Locke scratching his head. With Henry we never really know what is sincere and what is meant to manipulate people. We don’t know if he is lying or telling the truth. Henry Gale is one slick operator.

— Henry tells Locke that he is one of the “good ones”
— Henry failed his mission - he was coming to get Locke before he was caught by Danielle
— Henry’s friends are not forgiving - failure in his mission means death
— Henry describes his leader (presumably “Him” that we have heard so much about) as a “great man”, a “brilliant man” but not a “forgiving man”

Referencing Locke as a “good one” reminds me of Goodwin talking about the “list”. The list contains the names of the good people. We still don’t know what qualifies one to be “good” or not. Nor do we know if Henry is telling the truth.

In season 1 Locke is caught by the black swarm that tries to drag him underground. I wonder if that was the first attempt to get Locke and this is now the 2nd attempt.

It sure sounds like Henry is describing Alvar Hanso. We know Zeke quoted the guy. Fair to assume that Hanso bank-rolled the entire operation and is still actively involved in it. That being said, killing Henry because he was caught in a trap seems a little extreme. I’m sure that violates some labor law, no matter where this island is.
